LexisNexis® State Net® now provides AI-generated legislative summaries to help you quickly understand the impact of proposed laws. These summaries are designed to save time, surface key changes, and improve clarity—while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, privacy, and security.  Our approach is rooted in one principle:

AI Summaries Are Always Grounded in LexisNexis Content—Not Customer Data

State Net uses generative AI to summarize legislative and regulatory text, but does not use customer information or external data sources at any point in the process. Every summary is created solely from the official text contained within the State Net platform.

Below is a breakdown of how we ensure accuracy, trustworthiness, and protection of your data.

1. No Customer Data Used for Training or Summaries: LexisNexis does not use customer documents, search history, usage behavior, or stored data to train, improve, or generate AI summaries. The AI model relies on LexisNexis-owned and curated legal content.  Customer interactions are never fed back into the model. This aligns with the RELX Responsible AI Principles, which prioritize privacy, security, and strict control of data access.

What this matters: Your research activity remains private, and your data never influences how summaries are generated.

2. Summaries Stay Strictly Grounded in the Text of the Document:  To ensure accuracy, our AI is designed to remain fully “anchored” to the specific legislative or regulatory document it is summarizing. The model is not allowed to reference prior summaries, prior versions of text, historical learnings, or any unrelated content  

Why this matters: You receive a summary that is factual, neutral, and directly tied to the actual text—reducing risk and increasing reliability.

3. No Third-Party or Open-Web Sources: State Net’s AI does not search external websites, public datasets, or generic AI training sources.  Instead, summaries are created only from legislative and regulatory text stored within in State Net.  This avoids the risks of: Inaccurate or non-authoritative information, AI hallucinations caused by unverified sources, Interpretations not aligned with legal or public-policy context.
