State Net collects two types of regulatory documents: Rule-making and non-rule-making
Rule-making regulatory documents are those that propose or adopt changes to the Administrative Codes. The Administrative Code provides the “letter of the law” specifics for regulatory requirements, compliance and enforcement. We refer to rule-making documents as Regulations.
The State Net Regulatory product provides status and text when available, for all regulatory changes that have been proposed or adopted through the official rule-making process for each state and the federal government.
Our collection process includes gathering information available from official state publications (such as state registers), repositories provided by official rule-making bodies, and the state agencies themselves.
Non-Rule-making regulatory documents are generally produced by individual agencies. The contents of these documents can range from notices of public meetings to the agency’s guidance concerning their interpretation of Regulations (Rule-making Documents). We refer to non-rule-making regulatory documents as regulatory documents
