What's New with the Search Bar?

The powerful new search bar allows you to create new searches with predictive type-ahead results regardless of the content type.  

Flexible Text Search Field

The new text search field allows greater flexibility in how you search. Type directly in the bar to search with any of the following formats: 

• Term or phrase
• Measure ID 
• String of measure IDs 

Predictive Type Ahead Results

Find what you want faster with predictive results -- As you enter characters into the search bar the search engine will auto-populate suggestions in a dropdown.

When you enter a search term, a dropdown menu will appear and display results that are similar to the term you entered. If you preselected filters (Process Dates, Measure Types, Jurisdictions, etc.) the results in the menu will reflect those filter selections. You can either select from the menu to navigate directly to that result, or you can click the search button to be navigated to a results page to see more options. 

If you click on a suggested result from the dropdown, you will be navigated to either: 1) bill reader or reg reader page for that result. This will open in a new tab without a header.

Measure Type Selector:

• All measure types are initially selected
• Click on the measure type selector, a dropdown will appear allowing you to select Everything, Legs, Regs, or Local.

Legislative Session Selector:

All searches default to current session information unless specified with Legislative Archive.

• Select the toggle and search across legislative measures from previous session years.
• Select single or multiple session years at once

Location Selector: 

When you click into the location selector you will have the option to filter down by jurisdiction or locality.

State & Federal

Select a jurisdiction to see results for that jurisdiction

Please Note: Unless you have elected not to see local ordinance results, all local ordinances contained within that jurisdiction will be returned in your result set as well. Clicking "Do not show local ordinances" will remove that measure type from your result set. Alternatively you can choose not to see local ordinance in the measure type filter   

Cities & Counties

To search within a locality click the 'Localities: US Cities & Counties' tab. From here you can filter down to the locality level to search. 

Please Note: To limit your result set to ONLY local ordinance make sure to select for local ordinance in the measure type selector.
